Fall in New England & the shortest road trip ever!

My parents were up in Vermont visiting UVM for Parents Weekend, and I decided to drive up to see them and my sister (pictured). Problem is, I don’t get out of SNL until 1:30am on Saturday nights, and have to be back at SNL on Tuesdays at noon. So it had to be the shortest road trip ever.

Of the 36 hours this trip lasted, I spent 10 of them driving, 7 of them sleeping, and the remaining 19 actually there. And it was all totally worth it.

The last time I went to Burlington, VT, I flew there. It’s like a 40 minute flight from JFK, but getting to JFK takes like over an hour, then you have to deal with security, and waiting to board, and boarding, and waiting on the tarmac, and waiting to take off, and then landing but waiting to taxi to the gate, and then waiting for your bags, and then waiting to be picked up from the airport.

So I just wanted to drive.

Plus, I’ve never driven in the northeast before and it’s fall! So I rented a car and did it (because the whole “you have to be 25 to rent a car rule” doesn’t apply to New York for whatever reason).

Hey guys, there’s this place, it’s called Upstate New York. It’s BEAUTIFUL. You should check it out.

Seriously, the drive was amazing. On the way up I went through New Jersey, into upstate New York, and drove all the way up and then crossed over into Vermont. On the way back, I drove down through Vermont, through Massachusets and Connecticut, and then back into New York.

I also drove in Manhattan/Harlem/The Bronx for the first time which was crazy but exciting and not as scary as I thought it would be.

Anyway, the point of the story is that I can never drive in Florida again. I wish I could have taken pictures of the mountains and hills and leaves changing colors, but ya know, I was driving. I do, however, have a few pictures from Vermont which is what’s scattered through this post. Seeing the fam for a few hours was nice too.

Footage I took from the 9/11 Memorial, the Tribute In Light, and the memorial at Battery Park.

75 in NYC today?!

Today was such a beautiful day in New York. We haven’t really seen Spring temps yet this year, but today it was randomly 75 degrees outside and it was awesome.

BUT inside, I had to cave and turn on the a/c.

I’ve stated before how much I love my a/c, so I’m proud to say that today was the first time my air conditioner has been on since October! Almost 6 months with no a/c! That breaks my previous record of two weeks that time in Florida when Hurricane Wilma knocked out our power for two weeks.

When I lived in the dorms, I kept the a/c on year round. I grew up with it in Florida and like it better than opening a window. And it didn’t matter since I wasn’t paying the electricity bill. Now I am. And the air conditioner in my apartment rattles like keys in a blender, so I usually go for the open window and leave the a/c off and quiet.

Temps are supposed to be cold again tomorrow, but I’m peacing out to SoFla where it will be a toasty 90 degrees! What up, 954!

Crap, wrong sport.

YANKEES > YOU

Lol, I definitely enjoyed seeing all the Yankee-haters posting up Facebook about how great the Texas Rangers were doing in last night’s first game of the ALCS. Texas beating you 5-0 in the 7th might be intimidating to some teams, but noooot the Yankees!

Okay, dick Yankee fan rant ends now.

I definitely did not think the Yankees were taking Game 1 after the first few innings last night. Obviously the Rangers are a pretty good team if they made it this far (although they’ve never made it to the ALCS before, opposed to the Yankees 49 times). It was an amazing game that while ending in New York’s favor, was really a good effort by both teams. How corny does that sound? But I mean, how often does a 5-run eighth inning comeback happen!? Come on!

I’m gunna chill with the Yankees posts for now, but they’ll be back in full force when we make it to the World Series!

Sunset from my cubicle.

This is the second picture of the sun from my iPhone where those red dots have come up. I don’t know why it’s happening (it’s not an effect) but I love it!

Yankees win, TBS loses.

So the Yankees are in the postseason again! And we won the ALDS in 3 games! But what I don’t understand is how TBS’s coverage of the postseason is so terrible.

Like, it was bad last year, and it’s somehow even worse this year. It’s all old guys, who have never seen a baseball game in their life. They don’t know the rules (or maybe they forgot in their old age), and they don’t even seem to pay attention to what’s going on as they report it incorrectly (or maybe they can’t see anymore). The Griffin Elementary morning announcements team could do a better job than this.

For example, when Roy Halladay of the Phillies got a no hitter last week, the first question TBS asked him as he was walking off the field was “What wasn’t working for you today?” Seriously? That’s the question you ask, TBS?

PS. Go Yankees!

I think by now we’ve all heard about that jetBlue flight attendant who jumped out the emergency slide of the plane he was on after cursing out some passengers last monday at JFK. Well this audio clip is what my flight attendant said to my jetBlue flight out of JFK yesterday :)

It has been hilarious to be in New York for all the LeBron drama.
I mean, as a South Floridian, I couldn’t be happier that Bosh, Wade, and LeBron will all be reppin the MIA for the 2011 season, but most people here are pisssssed!
They had a whole “C’mon Lebron” campaign to convince him to sign with the Knicks which didn’t quite pan out.
Let’s go Heat!
