NYC CELEBS
I’ve seen some cool celebs around NYC over the past week:

This is Guy Fieri and Mario Batali (in the convertible) right outside of my apartment. I could literally see this from my window. No idea why they were shooting on my residential street in the Village, but I’ve been told it was for Diners Drive-Ins and Dives. I was on my way to class when I noticed this so I wish I could have stuck around to watch for a while.

Then, as I was leaving NBC on Tuesday I saw Simon Cowell out front. I was amazed at what a nice guy he is! Like okay, he walked out of the main door at NBC. He didn’t have to do that. There are plenty of other more discrete exits that he could have used and chose not to. Then, he didn’t go running for his car. He stopped and chatted with all the people on the street who immediately recognized him. Made some jokes with people, took some pictures, signed some autographs. Totally not the Simon we all know from American Idol.
I mean, I didn’t talk to him, but I could have if I wanted to. That picture isn’t zoomed in.
Visiting NBC Miami

Thursday night I got to hang out at the NBC6 studios for their 11 o’clock broadcast. My super cool friend / former CTVer, Ashley, is an intern there and hooked me up with a quick tour around the newsroom and studios. Everyone there was so chill and awesome. And as you can see from the picture above, they have such a nice building.
NBC6 is an O&O NBC station meaning they are owned and operated by the national NBC Universal company in New York. Because of that I noticed so many similarities between their office here and the NBC headquarters at 30 Rock in New York. Most notably, Comcast, new owner of NBC, has conveniently placed their corny quotes (“First we dream, then we deliver”) all around NBC6 just like in 30 Rock.
Thanks Ashley!
Done with Late Night with Jimmy Fallon

This post is a week late… but last Wednesday was my last day interning at Late Night with Jimmy Fallon!
It’s been quite a few months, I can tell you that. And overall it was a really great experience that I’m glad I got to be a part of.
Definitely going to miss some of the other interns over there. The Late Night Spring 2011 interns were a great group. Many of them have now graduated and are heading off into the real world, which is so crazy. (Good luck to everyone! lolliketheylleverreadthis) And even the Summer interns who came in for our merger week last week were all really cool. It’s too bad I won’t get to know them.
As for me, I’ve still got another year of college left, so I’m pursuing some other potential internships within the NBC Family. We’ll see where it goes :)
I do not like this.
What’s with all these companies changing their logos from great to crap (coughnbc)?

In the background of Late Night with Jimmy Fallon!
Last night I posted a picture of my TV screen showing Wednesday night’s episode of Late Night with Jimmy Fallon with a nice red arrow pointing to me in the background. Jimmy and his guest, Samuel L. Jackson, went golfing in the hallways of 30 Rock for a sketch and you can see me and some other interns standing there. Here’s another picture of my TV and then a screenshot from NBC.com. Sorry if I’m getting a bit too overexcited about this but I mean, come on, it’s national television :)

Watch the golf sketch here or the full episode here!
I was in the background of a sketch on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon last night! Watch the episode here. More screenshots coming tomorrow :)
It snowed in 49 states yesterday. Florida was the only state in the whole country that didn’t get any snow, and it was somehow 80 degrees haha. We’re down to 58 today though. Chilly ;)
Scriptwriting is causing me Winter Break stress.

I haven’t been blogging lately, mostly because it’s winter break and I haven’t been doing anything. (It’s been great.) But even though I haven’t been doing anything, somehow a lot has still been happening.
Next semester I’ve got two pretty big things happening: the internship with NBC, and the production of an original short film for the Intermediate Narrative class (formally Color Sync) at NYU.
The prep for both of those things is happening now. NBC with paperwork and orientation and whatever, but I actually have to write the script for that short film by the time class starts. As of today, the script is finally in a complete format with a beginning, middle, and end. It still has a long way to go before it’s finished, but I’m making progress so that’s cool. (That’s an actual picture of it, above.)
I’ve got two weeks left in Florida. I should say “oh really gotta take advantage and go to the beach and Miami” but I probably won’t do either of those things so, let’s just leave it as, two more weeks of no stress sounds awesome.
Lol I got this Howie Mandel bobble head for free at the NBC store today.
I think they realized that no one in their right mind would ever buy this so they just decided to give them away for free.
Deal… or no deal.
I’m an NBC intern for Late Night with Jimmy Fallon :)

UPDATE JAN 20, 2012:
Hey guys, so I recently found out that this post (as of 1/20/12) is the number 4 result on Google if you type in “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon Internships.” That’s really cool and everything, but I have to tell you upfront, I cannot help you get internships with Late Night, SNL, or NBC.
I’ve been getting a ton of emails and tweets and asks on Tumblr asking how to get internships with these shows and as much as I’d love to help you all, I do not have the ability to connect you to people at NBC. Late Night and SNL are awesome shows, and I’ve had great experiences interning with them both so I highly recommend you pursue them (and watch them!), I’m just not the person who can help you do that.
Thanks for checking out my website and good luck!!!

—————————————————

Last Tuesday I went to 30 Rock (NBC headquarters the place, pictured above, not the show) to interview for an intern position at Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. I decided against blogging about it just because NBC internships are very competitive and I’ve already got such a busy semester next semester so I wasn’t sure if I’d get/take it, plus, there’s still a ton going on at my current internship with MTV Networks/Comedy Central.
Well today, I was offered the job. And I accepted :)
Obviously I would accept a great opportunity like this, but this does mean I’ll have a really busy semester next semester since I will actually be directing a new short film for class. I’m sure it will all be well worth it though.

Internships at NBC, from what I’ve heard, are more traditional, so I definitely won’t be getting a cubicle or a computer or anything like I have now at MTV. Switching it up and working at NBC (which I love despite its problems) will be great for next semester, but I’ve also really come to love Viacom and the MTV Networks, so I definitely see another internship with MTV in my future.
I start at Late Night in January, I’ll keep you posted!
