BriTANicK at the UCB!

On Friday night Erin and I when to see a live BriTANicK show at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre.

The theater, which is this small, dark, underground, crappy sort of place, is actually really awesome and really popular. It was founded by Amy Poehler among with some other legit people who are part of the Upright Citizens Brigade comedy troupe.

The show was great too. Brian & Nick, the two guys of BriTANicK, are both NYU alums. They did some stand up, some improv, and previewed their upcoming new YouTube video (hilarious).

Anyway, they have a show every month, so Erin and I definitely want to go see another one.

They’re all hilarious, forealz.

COMIC-CON IS SCARY.

I’ve never been to a Comic-Con before, but Comedy Central put on a South Park event this weekend (which I was part of creating) at the 2010 New York City Comic-Con.

Let me just say this: Putting on the event was very cool, but the people at Comic-Con all dressed up in their like comic book / video game / nerd costumes are extremely scary and not people I generally like to associate with (no offense).

I had an All-Access Press pass, but didn’t really go out to the convention floor or anything else. I did, however, get to see all of the other Comedy Central events which consisted of Nick Swardson talking about his new show Nick Swardson’s Pretend Time premiering on Comedy Central this week, so that was cool.

The event we put on was a Butters Trivia game in honor of the new A Little Box of Butters DVD+Goodies box set available now (yayay free advertising for Comedy Central!) It involved bringing three people up on stage at a time, asking them questions, and giving away prizes with an audience of 600 people. The place was packed though. It could seat 600, but there were people on the floor and standing along the back.

Part of what I had to do was throw out free t-shirts, and Butters bracelets into the audience. Oh. My. God. Rabid, prize hungry Comic-Con attendees are vicious. I almost died. It was still a cool experience and a lot of fun to be part of the creation of a Comedy Central event, but I don’t think I’ll be returning to a Comic-Con any time soon.

Betty White on SNL? Best 90 minutes of my life.

I had high hopes for last night’s Saturday Night Live featuring Betty White and Jay-Z, but not only did it deliver, I think it’s in the running for one of the best SNL’s of all time.

I don’t have a TV (or anything else) in my dorm room anymore, so I had to connect my computer to NYU’s terrible cable. Despite this less than ideal viewing situation, I was crying from laughing so hard.

SNL alumni kept popping up everywhere. Amy Poehler, and Tina Fey both came out of nowhere, and two other past SNL cast members who I recognized but don’t know their names (Ana Gasteyer and Molly Shannon, thanks Google) where also there.

Check out the episode on HULU, most of it’s up, except for the Jay-Z performances which were so sick… but they never post those for some reason.
